Tanning Tips: Tips for getting the perfect tan

Strange but true, the skin is the largest organ in our body. Our skin protects us from bacteria and viruses which cause diseases. The skin’s pigment called melanin protects us from the sun. It helps in controlling our body temperature. The skin also uses the UV rays of the sun to build Vitamin D which is very important for our body. After so many things the skin can do for us we have a little bit of responsibility in taking care of our skin.

Sun Tanning Tips…

-Always use a branded product sun tan lotion; you don’t want any rashes on your body.

-Use a sun screen with a higher SPF like 30.

-It is always better to apply the sun screen twice. The first time immediately after showering and the second when you are on the beach.

-Other than a sun screen, even sun blocks are very useful.

-Wear a hat and a good quality sun glasses to protect your eyes from the harmful UV rays.

-Drink lots of water.

-Don’t just lie in one position on the beach, take a walk, twist and turn for that natural tan.

-Don’t tan everyday. There should be a gap of at least 24 hours before tanning yourself again.

-Try and avoid tanning between 11 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. as the sun is at its peak.

-If going to the beach and tanning is a family outing, take care of your babies and young children, the UV rays could be very harmful for them

Sunless Tanning Tips…

-If you are using a bronzer or a spray on tan, make sure you follow all the instructions provided.

-Remember not to over do the application. You want a natural tanning glow and not an artificial one.

-Do not use these products immediately after shaving or waxing. Wait at least 8-12 hours.

-Don’t tan everyday. There should be a gap of at least 24 hours before tanning yourself.

-If you are not capable of doing it by yourself, then don’t do it.

-Go to a tanning salon or have a professional do it for you.
